these two days were great. The first day was again mostly just driving. Then we got to my familys house. There I met relatives that I had never met before and I liked it very much. Then today we went shooing and spent time down at the lake. We hit our first real resterant that I can talk about. I forget the exact spelling but I believe it was called kepies (like the doll). It wassnt bad. The burgers were just like any normal burger but the house made root beer…. So good! I have never had root beer like that before! It was just amazing. When we finally got back to the house I made my special home made keilbasa. That was really good. Well tomorrow I think we head to Chicago so I look forward to that. Until then. Goodbye

  1. Good Morning Son! I look forward each day to reading your blog and reading of your new adventures. I too love your Kielbasa you make. MMM good. It sounds like your culinary adventure may be starting. My guess about the restaurant you went to was highlighting the Kewpie dolls? They are based on comical strip-like illustrations by Rose O’Neill that appeared in Ladies’ Home Journal in 1909. Being you are going into graphic arts, I thought you may want a bit of dry encyclopedic information of these older illustrations as part of history for your craft. Please give my love to the family and appreciation for taking such good care of my men and the next rootbeer you have, think of me. I love rootbeer!

  2. Next time I come for a visit you’ll have to make your special kielbasa for me too! I leave for Oregon today so you won’t be hearing from me for a while. Enjoy your trip and your visit to the Museum of Science and Industry. I’d be interested in finding out if they still have the model heart that you can walk through. I’d love to go back there again. Fascinating!

  3. Hi Trevor,

So nice to read your blog today. I’m glad you guys made it to Illinois. I think one of the pictures your Dad had on his blog was of Abraham Lincoln’s house? Was that Springfield, Illinois? It sounds like you guys are having a really good time, visiting relatives and enjoying the sights and sounds around you. When you get to Chicago, you will have a great time with all of the things you can see and do, especially the barbecue – yum. I’ve been there and the food is great and such a variety to choose from. Have fun in the “windy city!”
